Jun 6 – Jun 8 all-day

If you’re looking forward to warm weather riding, but dreading fly season, it’s time for a different approach. Also, during our Farnam “No Fly Zone” Event there will be multiple coupons available for other fly control products.

Start this summer on the right foot with all the right fly-control products from the Farnam “No Fly Zone” Event. Stop by your local Ocala Breeders’ Feed & Supply to learn about a variety of tried-and-true Farnam favorites, as well as the newest innovations in fly control. Smart horse owners know it takes more than just a good fly spray to win the pest control battle. For superior protection against flies, gnats, mosquitoes, and ticks, you need a multi-zone program that blocks, repels and reduces.

A physical barrier, such as a fly mask, blocks flies and insects. While sprays, wipe-ons, rolls-ons, and spot-ons repel flies and pests. Using a feed-through product breaks the fly life cycle and actually reduces the fly population.

Contact or stop by your local Ocala Breeders’ Feed & Supply for more information on how these fly-control products can help you take control of your summer.

Guest Speakers

Dr Clay Elliot

Dr. Elliot is a busy guy. He brainstorms new products and formulas for small ruminants to help meat goat and sheep producers resolve issues and improve their operations. Also, he runs his own herd of sheep and has a competitive club lamb operation in Oklahoma.

As a researcher and sheep producer, Clay wears both hats to understand and attack problems affecting sheep and goat raisers. At the top of his list to permanently solve? Keeping copper contamination out of sheep diets. In addition, he would also like to see more raisers address lambing and kidding issues with nutrition.

Clay has a Ph.D. in reproductive physiology and a master’s in meat science from Texas Tech University. Prior to joining Purina, Clay worked in academia, teaching classes in meat science, livestock evaluation and production, and animal science, as well as training collegiate judging teams.

Dr Faith Hughes

Dr. Faith Hughes was bitten by the “horse bug” at 6 years old and has yet to get over it. She knew she wante to be a vet for as long as she can remember. While hauling horses for extra money during undergraduate and vet school at Auburn, she became familiar with Peterson Smith. It didn’t take long for her to decide that is where she wanted to be when she finished her training. She joined the practice in 1991 and is now a senior partner.

HSC MeetingDr. Hughes is board-certified in Large Animal Surgery. Although she enjoys surgeries of all varieties she especially likes colics because no two are exactly alike. She calls her farm “The Island of Misfit Toys,” as it is home to a variety of critters in need of a place to live.  However, over the years she developed a passion for raising show sheep and cattle. She is a true believer in what showing livestock does for the growth and development of so many youth today, and is an avid supporter of stock show kids. Dr. Hughes owns and operates Sacred Silent Farm, where they are continuously improving their genetics and producing champion sheep and cattle.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the Showman’s Secrets Meeting on September 7, 2023.
The meeting will be held at the Highway 27 Store.
