First, Treatments will need to take place approximately 1-2 times a month depending on the weather. In detail, Below are the 4 steps that Crystal Blue Pond Care Products suggests to maintain a crystal blue pond.  They have also provided an easy-to-follow schedule for a 4-step program to remove muck, kill algae and aquatic weeds, and keep your pond sparkling.

Maintenance 

Pond Dye and Beneficial Pond Bacteria – 1 gallon will treat 1 acre with an average depth of 4-6 ft deep. Moreover, Pond dye is based on personal preference and this is a starting point. Ultimately,  You will use these maintenance products every 30 days or when the color fades. Just pour in several places around the pond.  For thick muck deposits or for beach areas you may want to consider highly concentrated bacteria.   Using these aquatic chemicals doesn’t guarantee you won’t get growth it simply makes it easier to get control of growth when it starts.

Crystal Blue Step 1: Crystal Blue Lake & Pond Treatment

Enhance the color of your pond or lake all year long. Apply monthly from February to November.

Early Spring (February thru April): Colors and enhances the appearance of your pond or lake. 1 gallon per surface acre, 4-6 feet deep.
Late Spring (May thru June): Maintain color and beauty with Crystal Blue.
Summer (June thru August): Treat again with Crystal Blue as rain may have lowered the volume of color. Crystal Blue colorant also helps dilute floating material.
Early Fall (September thru December): Continue through fall with Crystal Blue for color enhancement.

Pond Cleaner Step 2: Natural Pond Cleaner Muck Remover

Natural Pond Cleaner safely and effectively breaks down muck and dead vegetation. Use from February to November to treat ponds.

Early Spring (February thru April): Digests muck and other organic material. Clears out dead material from winter, including fish, debris, muck, and sludge.
Late Spring (May thru June): Continue to increase the volume of healthy bacteria for the reduction of micronutrients.
Summer (June thru August): Nature Pond Cleaner is key during warm summer months as rain and fertilizer runoff invades the pond. Dead algae will float to the bottom and become muck. Use Natural Pond Cleaner to safely remove this material.
Early Fall (September thru December): With Natural Pond Cleaner, healthy ponds have high levels of good bacteria counts, important for a healthy balance. Clean out dead vegetation and muck heading into winter.

Crystal Plex Step 3: Crystal Plex Aquatic Algaecide & Herbicide

Kills algae and maintains water quality. If algae currently exist, skip step 3 to start. Apply from April to September for filamentous and planktonic algae control.

Early Spring (February thru April): Apply when temperatures are above 50 degrees F.
Late Spring (May thru June): When first algae blooms are noticed, use Crystal Plex.
Summer (June thru August): Shoreline algae possibly resurface. Generally safe for fish, livestock, and waterfowl when applied per label directions. However, some exceptions may apply; please read the directions thoroughly.
Early Fall (September thru December): Later-season algae can still emerge; use as needed.

Step 4: Tsunami DQ Aquatic HerbicideTsunami

Contains diquat to kill the tougher submersed weeds that are resistant to copper sulfate. When weeds currently exist, skip to step 4 to start. Apply from April to September for weed control.

Early Spring (February thru April): Use Tsunami DQ for weed control. This non–selective aquatic herbicide is preferably used during the early growth stages of all submerged, floating, and marginal weeds. Kills Hydrilla, Duckweed, Water Lily, Water Grass, Naiad, and more.
Late Spring (May thru June): Weed plants should be succulent and actively growing for best results. Use this diquat-based herbicide for weed control. 1 quart treats ¼ acre of water. Excellent for spot treatment.
Summer (June thru August): Tsunami DQ is excellent for immediate burn down of submerged, floating, and marginal weeds. Mix 1 qt. Tsunami DQ with 10 gallons of water to treat floating and submerged vegetation.
Early Fall (September thru December): Still possible to encounter late-season submerged weeds. Controls most species of weeds in fall. Spray directly in the area of growth for best results.

Benefits of Tsunami DQ Aquatic Herbicide:
  • Effective in controlling duckweed, water hyacinth, pondweed, slender leaf pond weed, coontail, and other aquatic weeds
  • Can be blended with other herbicides for many uses
  • Diquat formula kills tougher, copper-resistant surfaces and submerged weeds
  • Consists of 37.3% diquat dibromide
  • For aquatic use, apply 2-8 quarts per surface acre, depending upon the infestation and type of weeds
